Bauble making

This year we made our own baubles to hang on the boys tree, they have their own so they can decorate it however they want. I have a condition called P.O.P.D, perfect ornament placement disorder. I don’t like them helping me decorate for that reason, but obviously they love it so that’s the compromise.

We got this little set from Aldi for only £1.99! It contained six ready to fill baubles, a tonne of white shredded tissue paper, lots of gold glitter and plenty of twine to hang them. IMG_20181121_180822_446.jpg

Now not only is this an absolute bargain, it’s almost impossible to not look good! The boys had great fun pulling, scrunching and feeling the tissue paper whilst they filled the baubles. The glitter of course got quite messy, but nothing a vacuum can’t fix. We found it easier to put the glitter in first, and the tissue paper on top.

Making sure all of the tissue paper was tucked in before closing was quite tricky, but we got there in the end. Tommy was fascinated rolling the finished product around the table, the contrast of colours and the sparkle of the glitter is quite eye catching.

I was quite conscious of how easily the bauble opened and closed, so to avoid my carpet being glitter bombed, I tied the twine in a knot at the baubles loop and stuck a bit of cello tape at the bottom. Finally the boys took time finding the perfect places to hang them.

All in all a lovely addition to our decorations, as well as a fun Christmas craft for a wet and cold afternoon!
